Salary Range:  $21.37 - $29.24

 

WORK YEAR: 264 days  Monday - Friday  7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

 

DEFINITION
Under general supervision, perform a variety of moderately responsible clerical work which involves the learning of specialized procedures; maintain office and program files and data; handle a variety of student, teacher, and public contacts; type reports and similar materials; and perform related office clerical duties as required.

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Performs a variety of clerical work including typing, proofreading, filing, checking, and recording information; provide information concerning programs, schedules, and activities; assist in assembling, computing, preparing, completion, and conformance to established procedures; and operate office machines, including typewriter, copier, calculating and computer terminal; answer a variety of procedural questions; giving out information from established records; answers telephones and gives authoritative information about the functions assigned.

 

SUPERVISION FROM

Positions in this class receive general supervision from a site administrator or designee.  Positions in this class are:  High School Attendance Clerk, High School Registrar Clerk, High School Student Activities Clerk, Mt. View Attendance Clerk.

 

SUPERVISION OVER

May direct the work of Clerk I and Clerk II

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Knowledge:

Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation and math; modern office methods, procedures and equipment; familiarity with district policies, rules, and regulations pertaining to the assigned area.

Ability to:

Perform a variety of clerical work involving use of independent judgment and requiring accuracy and speed; operate standard office equipment; make arithmetical calculations; perform clerical work without continuous supervision; work efficiently with frequent interruption; compile and maintain accurate and complete records and reports; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; maintain cooperate working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; type a net corrected speed of 35 words per minute.

 

PERSONAL QUALITIES

Patience; flexibility; good judgment; clerical aptitude; willingness to learn operation of office equipment and procedures.

 

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Good physical condition as determined by pre- and post-employment inquiries and health reports; must pass District physical examination which includes drug screening; provide proof of negative TB test at time of hiring.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, including course in typing and office practices; three (3) years of experience in typing and general clerical work including use of computer; or any combination of training, experience, and education that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
