QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  Possess or qualify for appropriate credential(s) to teach students with mild/moderate disabilities, including specifically identified special needs.
2.   Skill in instructional planning.
3.   Ability to be flexible and innovative and accountable.

 

JOB GOALS:
To be responsible for students who have been determined to have specifically identified special needs.  May provide instruction to special education and academically at-risk students in general education or special education settings. To provide instruction through sound instructional planning, programming, teaching methods and strategies.

 

EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  1. Develops educational plans to meet the individual needs of students with specific academic deficits or to prevent learning deficits.
  2. Collaborates with resource, general education, and support personnel regarding the development and implementation of student instructional plans.
  3. Teaches special needs students, in accordance with appropriate district curriculum and individual student needs and goals.                                                                   
  4. Though use of direct instruction or co-teaching methodologies, may provide access to the standards-based curriculum in individual, small or large group settings.
  5. Conducts evaluation of student progress and participates in revision of the  students'  IEP's.
  6. Plans and conducts parent conferences in an articulate and empathic manner.
  7. Maintains necessary student records according to District Policy and statutes.
  8. Demonstrates continuing professional growth.
  9. Performs such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
