Salary Range (9): $ 20.84 to $ 28.52** per hour
**EXPERIENCE CREDIT: A maximum of two (2) years may be granted for experience outside the Beaumont Unified School District. Therefore, an external new hire's maximum starting salary for this position is $ 22.54 per hour (Range 9/Step 3).

Job Description
DEFINITION
Under general supervision, keeps an assigned food service area clean, sanitary, safe and orderly; secures rooms and buildings; and performs related work as required.
CHARACTERISTICS
Positions in this class are under the supervision of the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor, and/or Principal through delegation of the Food Service Director, may be assigned to the afternoon or evening shift. Incumbents are responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of areas assigned. The duties listed below are typical for positions in this class collectively but no one position will necessarily include all these duties.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Keeps building and premises neat, clean and safe at all times;
- Sweeps, scrubs, dusts and otherwise cleans areas such as lavatories, cafeterias, auditoriums, multipurpose rooms, walkways, lunchrooms and Food Preparation facilities;
- Moves and arranges furniture and equipment as directed;
- Washes windows, walls, sinks, fountains, and food preparation equipment;
- Replaces light bulbs;
- Secures buildings and grounds after hours;
- Does emergency clean-up resulting from breakage, vandalism, spilling or illness;
- Refinishes, seals, waxes and polishes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets;
- Operates buffers, vacuum cleaners and other custodial equipment;
- When not engaged in custodial activities, may assist as required in a variety of food service work throughout the district involving heavy manual labor and semiskilled tasks.
- May be on call for emergencies;
- Participates in district in-services, workshops and/or seminars.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Methods, materials, equipment used in cleaning various types of surfaces and furniture; cleaning chemicals and their proper use; safety practices related to cleaning methods; basic English, usage, writing and math.
Ability to:
Maintain work schedules in performing tasks; perform heavy physical labor; work without immediate supervision; maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; maintain a pleasant appearance and demeanor; pass District written test with a score of 70% or better.
QUALIFICATIONS (continued)
Training and Experience:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, one (1) year of experience in cleaning and maintaining areas; or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities; good work history and attendance.
Licenses:
Valid California driver's license
Personal Qualities:
High degree of custodial aptitude and willingness to learn new skills, routines and equipment;
Possess physical strength and stamina to do strenuous work.
Physical:
Good physical condition as determined by pre and post-employment inquiries and health reports. Must pass District physical examination which includes drug screening.
